Hi, I’m Sean — and if there’s one thing that’s been a constant in my life, it’s the pull of the outdoors.

My love of nature started early, thanks largely to my dad. He was the one who first got me looking up at birds, noticing the shapes of trees, and understanding that there’s always more going on outdoors than you realise at first glance. That gentle nudge from him set the tone early in life.

As a teenager, I was deep into ornithology—head buried in bird books, binoculars always close by. At the same time, I was fascinated by cameras… I just couldn’t afford to feed a film habit back then!

I’ve also always been drawn to water. In my younger years I spent a lot of time sailing and canoeing, and when I wasn’t doing that, I was off fishing somewhere quiet. All of it probably added to that sense of freedom I get when I’m outside. Being on the water teaches you to notice small details—the wind shifting, the light changing.

Of course life did what life does, and I choose a long career in financial services. It was great but the wild places I loved were always tugging at my sleeve.

Over the years, Grace and I have spent countless days hiking through forests, along coastlines, Vermont, the Dolomites etc. My camera came along for every step—first as a way of remembering the moments, and slowly as a way of trying to share them.

Dogs have been part of my story too. As a teenager I had a loyal Border Collie/Labrador cross who went everywhere with me—a patient companion for all my detours., birdwatching pauses, and muddy wanderings. More recently Golden Retrievers bounded in and stole our hearts. Their joy for being outside—the way they notice the world—the love they radiate.

Now that I’m retired, I have the freedom to lean fully into the things that have always mattered most: nature, photography, and simply being out in the fresh air. My goal is pretty simple: improve my photography, spend more time in the places I enjoy, and use my images to help others appreciate the beauty that’s right in front of us.

So that’s me—someone who loves the outdoors, loves a good ramble and is always ready to stop for a bird, a beam of light, a ripple on the water or a happily wagging tail.
